The County

After the death of her husband, a woman takes control of their rural dairy farm in Iceland and challenges the leaders of the local co-op.

We're witness to the life of a woman left to run a robotic dairy farm. Being in debt with few options, she stands up to those in power and "The County" tells quite a tale in a minimalist way typical of the setting. The camera work is superb, making the most of the natural lines and sparse landscapes, imbuing an understated stillness into the production. The final scene is one of the most uplifting of recent times. Hear me roar.
