The Banshees of Inisherin

Life on a fictional island off Ireland's coast was predictable until the day Colm told his best friend, "I just don't like you no more."

The charm of "The Banshees of Inisherin" is that the story is as real as it is fanciful, it holds everything and its opposite. Thanks to the skill of the writer the screenplay is well-structured and original. As scenes build, audiences are left dreading what might happen next only to see those fears realised. The cinematography is superb, capturing everything from the expressions of farm animals to the barren landscape, juxtaposing the droll with despondency. Haunted and haunting.
