Six archived interview transcripts from Harold Garfinkel's UCLA 1950s Gender Studies program are bought to life with transgender actors filling the subject's roles.

The experiences of transgender people are rarely explored and when they are - in the words of one of the documentary's actors - we hear the stories "as told by the hunters and not the lions." The format is brilliantly conceived, as audiences hear of lives from the past framed in the present day, with empathy for lived experiences. There's much to learn thanks to the lions who share deeply without roaring, conveying the complexity of lives often hidden... don't fear, my darling.
