"The Batman" is a dark and gritty tale of vengeance, redemption and lost innocence. Our leading man is perfectly sullen in his depiction of this most beloved comic book character, lending an emo edge to his performance that is outstanding. The plot moves at a solid pace, unfolding in such a way that you won't even notice the long running time. There are some interesting cinematography choices, the fight sequences are a definite highlight, and the ominous, beating soundtrack complements the onscreen action perfectly. Bat and the cat.
