Official Competition

Two lead actors and a director spend five days in rehearsal, preparing for a production commissioned by a wealthy business type who covets a film award.

"Official Competition" is an acerbic take on the bizarre creative egos that (may) inhabit the film industry, creating movies. Even the most absurd moments are believable to your average moviegoer unfamiliar with exactly what goes on behind the scenes. Fragile egos are tickled and wounded in situations where it's increasingly difficult for the players to discern fiction from fact. Seemingly playful scenes mask a scathing commentary, you can't quite laugh, and you can't look away. Art tries to imitate life.
