For better and for worse, rom-coms are offerings we rarely embrace as films to love and cherish, making it all the more delightful when something as unexpected as "Marry Me" illuminates the big screen. The casting is faultless, but the premise is impossibly unlikely, involving a mismatched couple from 'for richer, for poorer' backgrounds. Their on-screen authenticity works effectively to shrink audience incredulity, and we come to regard their insanity as something inspired. To have and to hold.
