Hillbilly Elegy

JD is graduating from Yale law school and seeking a job with a prestigious firm while his mother is in crisis with drug addiction.

If only one could unread a book before watching the movie based on that book. As unreading is not possible, it's a shame if the namesake maintains a work's title while diverging from the intent of the original text. Disappointingly, "Hillbilly Elegy" fails to achieve the source material's socioeconomic analysis of one family's experience within the broader context of American society. What we're left with is a reduced story of a son's relationship with his mother. Lament this elegy.
