Yesterday

Comedy Music

After being hit by a bus, a struggling musician wakes up to a world where he's the only person who can remember the Beatles.

"Yesterday" is a jukebox musical that requires an extraordinary suspension of disbelief as it invites the audience to toe-tap and singalong to its high concept premise. The film plays like a whimsical work of fanfiction, and lovers of the band and their catalogue of anthems will effortlessly revel in the nostalgia on offer. Whether it will strike a chord with a wider audience remains to be seen; the offbeat love story is charming enough but borders on saccharine. The star of the show is undoubtedly the music. Imagine there's no Beatles...
