Wonder Wheel

On Coney Island during the 1950's, the wife of the man who operates a carousel has an affair with a lifeguard.

Playwrights are mentioned throughout this staged and theatrical production, drawing attention to the stylistic similarities of this piece with the works of famous American dramatic authors. The cinematography is excellent, but the backdrops are awkwardly so full of life and movement that they become distracting. The unfolding tragedy is insufficiently compelling to keep viewers from wondering how the colourful crowd scenes were created, before yawning and trying to tune back into the beleaguered lives of the main characters. Bored walks.
