Drama

Set in Montana in the 1960s, a young boy witnesses his parents growing apart.

This production is gentle more than wild, and the overall mood is one of muted restraint. Each action and expression is closely observed but a depth of perspective is missing, perhaps because we're looking through the eyes of the all-but-mute son. The actor in that role delivers a great performance of a character who gives nothing away, but the effect is a little simplistic. The on-screen composition is balanced with meticulous detail, and the camera work is at times jaw-dropping, with the moods captured and reflected. Living in captivity.
