Upon her release from jail, a young woman in Glasgow wants to follow her dreams to be a Nashville country star.

The lead of "Wild Rose" has unflagging energy that perfectly befits her character of a country singer in her ascendancy. Another joy here is the unexpected trajectory of what starts out looking like a familiar and well-trod tale. The protagonist's mix of talent and vulnerability is more potent than ever thanks to being served with a sense of realism in the 'against all odds' struggle. Add to the praise that this is a musical with a soaring soundtrack. A rose without thorns.
