"War for the Planet of the Apes" is an action packed story underpinned by moral dilemmas and a very relevant political and social commentary. It's an intelligent, well crafted film that manages to evoke genuine empathy for the primates at its heart, so much so that you'll be cheering for human extinction. Despite some extended lapses in pacing and a prolonged running time, the narrative is aided by stunning combat sequences and exquisite special effects; a fitting conclusion to the franchise.
