The scariest thing about "Veronica" is that it is loosely based on real events. This movie tries really hard to imagine the inexplicable but ends up with just another generic, ominous, malevolent force of a villain who remains only mildly spooky. The runtime overstays its welcome and the storyline is so weighed down with metaphors, familial responsibility and teen angst that you might forget this is actually meant to be a horror film.
