The Shallows

Horror Thriller

A surfer travels to a hidden beach and becomes trapped by a great white shark in the water.

"The Shallows" is a lame shark film, but there's fun to be had in its mediocrity. It opens with derivative bikini shots, as to be expected, followed by 'extreme' action sequences; which its credit, does actually produce some impressive underwater visuals. When the star attraction finally does arrive, it sadly feels less threatening in pure CGI form. Eventually the great white settles on doing laps, as our heroine and her newly-acquainted seagull friend desperately attempt to design the next plot contrivance trying to escape their rocky refuge. Middling waters.
