This live-action adaptation roars with the collective weight of childhood memories, impressive technological advances, and a stellar voice cast. The iconic story remains relatively untouched, but its animal stars and surrounds have received a photorealistic upgrade. What can be aptly described as a majestically-shot documentary turned musical, "The Lion King" is visually stunning and sweetly familiar - and almost too real for its own good. Particularly when the trade-off for its animalistic realism is the inability to show any real emotion... but that's the circle of life.
