The Kindergarten Teacher

A kindergarten teacher with a teenage family becomes obsessed with one of her five-year-old students whom she believes to be a genius poet.

"The Kindergarten Teacher" paints the picture of a woman who wants to protect a prodigy from the banality that surrounds her midlife. It's a movie underscored with psychological intelligence. A line, albeit a blurry one, is negotiated between attributing her with complex motivations or discounting her as reckless and deluded. Is she nurturing or exploiting the child? The thoughtful portrayal of the teacher frees audiences from being fixated with one angle or the other and allows both to be true. Poet and didn't know it.
