After the death of Soviet dictator Josef Stalin, his party bicker over the succession plan.

"The Death of Stalin" is political satire that takes the bold step of turning the succession of a horrific regime into a comedy. There's a long list of deliberately uncomfortable moments, leaving its audience with a constant fear that laughing may not be the best response to the subject matter. Ultimately the jokes are simply too funny to remain subdued, with a strong ensemble cast playing their historical counterparts emphatically, all the while retaining their native accents which only serves to fuel the mockery. The finest of parodies.
