Steelers: The World's First Gay Rugby Club

A documentary featuring members of the Steelers rugby club as they gather in Amsterdam to compete in the Bingham Cup, the world championship of gay and inclusive rugby.

Most often we presume that the difficulties faced, depression, anxiety, or self-esteem are caused by and should be addressed by the individual. "Steelers" rebuts that stance by encouraging their players to realise their differences, and supports them to come to terms with that. Surprisingly little of the game is presented on screen, and while we see running, jumping, kicking and scrums, we don't follow the ball or a game. The focus is on searching for belonging. Pride.
