Song to Song

Four lovers party and romance through Austin's music scene.

"Song to Song" is a floating dream narrated through poetic whispers, for the most part superficial and tedious. Empathising with such a group of distasteful people feels foolish, as they annoyingly prance around under the gaze of a camera that wavers alongside them. There's a certain mesmerising quality to be found in the cinematography, but lingering shots of sunsets and pools of water do not make a story. These characters are beautiful yet bland, and fade from memory when the music stops. Frolic to frolic.
