Sausage Party

Animation Comedy

A sausage embarks on a Life or Death adventure through the aisles of a supermarket to discover the truth about his existence.

For an animation that features a collection of foul-mouthed and sexually-frustrated groceries, it's unfortunate that many of the one-liners in "Sausage Party" don't land, especially with such a promising premise. For the jokes that do work, they are as vulgar, offensive and comical as you'd expect. What is completely surprising is the illuminating social commentary on faith and spirituality; particularly on the perils of blindly following religious faith. While it may take time to digest, the party eventually builds to a hilarious and traumatising climax. Existential food.
