Ride Like a Girl

Biography Drama Sport

The true story of Michelle Payne, the first female jockey to win the Melbourne Cup.

"Ride Like a Girl" is a feminist sports film celebrating the resilience and determination of a woman in a male-dominated sport. Unfortunately, the theatrics don't necessarily carry the same impetus as the cause. In striving to be a such a grounded, feelgood story, the movie suffers from moments of predictability and loses its lustre at times. This against-all-odds biopic will still be an enjoyable ride for fans of racing, and more importantly serve as inspiration for a generation of Australian horsemen and women alike. Reined in.
