Operation Mincemeat

In 1943, British Intelligence used a corpse as a part of a ruse to distract German forces so the Allies could push into Europe with little opposition.

Any good story is all the more engaging for being true and "Operation Mincemeat" is a very good war story even as it runs a tad long in this movie version. We barely glimpse a battlefield, a reminder of how much action is planned and plotted with no munitions involved. There is a restrained air to the production with stiff upper lips, and as such, balanced out by the audacity of the canniest operatives who were up for a double-double cross. V for victory.
