Nowhere Special

Belfast window cleaner John is a single dad dying of a terminal affliction while searching for a family to adopt his four-year-old son.

The performances of the father and his cute as a button son are outstanding, they make holding hands and ambling down the street a poignant scene. There's also much that doesn't sit well with this made-for-tears story. You're asked to pick a side, and impending death apparently trumps socioeconomic privilege. It's a set-up, with audiences encouraged to empathise with one and sneer at the other, with not-so-subtle shades of goodies and baddies. Have a wail of a time.
