My Salinger Year

Working for a New York literary agent, aspiring poet Joanna Rakoff replies to letters sent by those hoping to reach the reclusive J.D. Salinger.

"My Salinger Year" is a fan letter to the world of literary agents and publishing as it once was. The script is based on a memoir and it's a warm and enjoyable, if not memorable, movie. The setting is distant from the concerns of ordinary people and it feels like a privilege to be able to observe the rarefied setting with its unconventional inhabitants, working in a culture that has most likely transformed to be unrecognisable today.
