A 90 year old man is living a day at a time and thinking about the end.

"Lucky" is bold in its simplicity and it's a riveting meditation on life, accepting situations for what they are. Everything is pared back and every moment filmed is essential. We learn enough about the central character to expect tomorrow to be just today was, and that complacency would be a mistake. This is a film in which nothing much happens, yet rich with profound moments, some that are disarmingly tender. It works as an affecting black comedy that avoids being bleak and cynical. A lucky strike.
