Love, Simon

Comedy Drama Romance LGBTQIA+

A closeted gay teenager tries to discover the identity of the anonymous classmate who he has fallen in love with online, whilst keeping his sexuality a secret from everyone else.

"Love, Simon" hits many of the same notes that other coming-of-age films have done before it; It's heartfelt, awkward, funny and likeable. Focusing on the coming out of a closeted teenager - a significantly well-overdue addition to the mainstream genre - it manages to not only make these notes so much sweeter, but also becomes an inspirational tale about normalcy and the struggle for acceptance. It's a film that should have existed earlier, but its lightness, cheesiness and overarching positivity are embraced regardless. Love, wins.
