Louder Than Bombs

Three years after the death of a war zone photographer, and just before an exhibition of her work, her husband and sons are still struggling to come to terms with their loss.

"Louder than Bombs" plays like a dirge, it is laden with solemnity and has the speed of a funeral procession. The themes are loss, grief, and fractured relationships so you might expect to feel an affect but somehow the movie carries the emotional weight without sharing it with the audience. The actors turn in good tragic performances but they all take themselves too seriously. Shallower than a puddle.
