Late Night

An inexperienced comedy writer joins a late-night TV show crew where the host is trying to hold her own; confronting issues of gender, age, and online audiences.

In one scene, there is a recipe book by a celebrity chef on the shelf in a formal sitting room. The cookbook is beside gilt-edged encyclopaedias, the perfect metaphor for "Late Night". The movie is about not having to step too carefully while being authentic and making room for mistakes. There are some missteps along the way but the movie is a winner; it's relevant and funny with forgivable glitches. A good night.
