Language Lesson

Drama LGBTQIA+

In times of COVID lockdowns, a woman in Costa Rica is engaged to deliver Spanish lessons over Zoom to a man in California.

"Language Lessons" is not only about living through a pandemic, it was made during a pandemic, which explains the modest production values. The movie screen is occupied with online call screens, a clever creative device, and a small nightmare for anyone with isolation-induced screen fatigue. The actors, or their screen-shot heads at least, rate highly on the likeability scale. The developing friendship between strangers is warm and watchable, providing escapism akin to indulging in comfort food. Lo-Fi delivered across Wi-Fi.
