La La Land

The town is Hollywood and romance dances its way into the lives of an aspiring actor working in a coffee shop and an out of work jazz pianist.

This is truly a girl-meets-boy tap dancing musical. "La La Land" harks back to an earlier era of movies adding its own original colour. The central couple start an old fashioned romance and soon discover they have modern relationship woes. For all of its sparkle, there's an emptiness that underscores the unlived dreams of the characters; and you can't help liking the actors more than those characters. Not so gaga about la la.
