MIFF: Kedi

A documentary that looks at the lives of the cats in Istanbul and the people who care for them.

"Kedi" is Turkish for cat, and the film's title tells you everything about what to expect. The ancient city is shown through sweeping aerial vistas, in contrast to the felines closely followed at ground level. It's apparent cats are an intrinsic part of life in Istanbul, they are everywhere. This documentary gifts us the pleasure of encountering many of them and learning of their foibles, each one cute and unexpectedly disarming. You could view it as a coffee table book on the big screen. Not for dog people.
