It Must be Heaven

Documentary

Writer-director Elia Suleiman plays himself, an Israeli-Palestinian director trying to get his movie made on a quest takes him to different cities.

It's difficult and simple to describe "It Must Be Heaven", as this is a movie to be experienced more than interpreted. The filmmaker's intent is initially obscure, but our protagonist is deadpan and delightful, saying very little and leaving audiences to construct their own versions of the story. The heightened reality between the observer and the observed is particularly captivating as is the subtle realisation that we're being asked to consider the invisible plight of Palestine, in the most non-confrontational way. Helluva movie.
