In My Blood It Runs

Ten-year-old Dujuan is a child-healer who speaks three languages. As he shares his wisdom of history and the complex world around him, we see his spark and intelligence. Yet Dujuan is 'failing' in school and facing increasing scrutiny from welfare and police.

"In My Blood It Runs" is a quote from Dujuan, referring to his healing gift which he proudly inherited from his grandfather. The telling of his story, filmed collaboratively with his family, reveals the appalling disconnect between Western and Indigenous cultures. We're shown the confronting and distressing consequences of colonisation and dispossession through the eyes of a child. This is an intimate portrait, tenderly crafted with much love and respect for its subjects, and an important record of how much work is required to improve and repair the lives of Australia's First Nations people.
