MIFF: I Dream in Another Language

Two elderly men who live in the Mexican jungle are among the last speakers of an indigenous language - but they haven't spoken to each other since one got married years ago.

Although there is a strong story thread about language, "I Dream in Another Language" is worth seeing simply for its stunning visual imagery. Scenes capture an on-screen dreaming quality that allows the past and present to almost co-exist, and the result is magical. The story is so good it doesn't know when to finish; by the time the credits roll you can count about five missed opportunities to end. Sleep talking.
