The head tailor at Dior Avenue Montaigne atelier has her handbag stolen on the Metro and rather than reporting the incident, offers the thief an internship.

"Haute Couture" enters a rarefied and rarely glimpsed part of the fashion world where skilled workers use traditional methods and work by hand. The cast is almost exclusively women and we're treated to the day-to-day interactions in a genteel workplace where the uncivilised is only occasional. The story is tailored to highlight generosity of heart and there's much woven in about respect for tradition and the complexities of class - all the while exploring relationships between mothers and daughters.
