IFF: Funne: Sea Dreaming Girls

A group of elderly woman who live Daone, a small mountain village in the North of Italy, have never seen the sea and are creative in their fundraising to make the trip.

This documentary is part fairy-tale. The story is told by a lilting narrator and the leading ladies are adorable and whimsical characters. The film-maker is unobtrusive allowing the picture to unfold as a good drama should, with failed funding attempts before the effort makes news. While watching to see what transpires, you can't help but hope that dreams can come true for these lively eighty-year-olds. Bella mermaids.
