Fanny Lye Deliver'd

History Drama

Two naked heretics seek shelter at a remote farm in 1657 Shropshire. As their intentions unfold, the lives of the farmer and his wife are disrupted.

A strange attraction is held by danger and the unknown while the story develops and becomes clear. The pious opening sets the stage for a drama around religious beliefs, but the story is more about a woman finding something beyond her oppressive marriage and world. Despite the small setting, the emotional scope of "Fanny Lye Deliver'd" is sweeping, asking if a cruel self-serving man can liberate a woman from another with the same characteristics? A farm-fresh feminist.
