Colonel Tom Parker managed Elvis Presley's career for over 20 years, a unique manager-artist relationship woven through with devious scheming.

When watching "Elvis", the bigger the screen, the better to do justice to the kaleidoscopic cinematography - which is captivating - but even without a song being performed in entirety, the runtime still feels bloated. The singing and hip-flinging with its orgasmic effect on the screaming crowds is given, but receives a lot of focus without delivering anything new. There's frenzied extravagance, and at the same time, missed opportunities. The element audiences won't help falling in love with is the quality of the cast performances. Heartbreak hotel.
