Dune: Part 2

Paul Atreides grapples with his role as the chosen one of the Fremen while seeking revenge for his family against the Harkonnen.

Dune: Part 2 is a seesawing battle of resolving plot lines against the inevitable prospect of a future installment. For the most part, this film meanders through the desert, with endless exclamations of prophecy and faith. Alas, it's frustrating when some of the more pivotal scenes whip past like a sandworm chasing a thumper. The worldbuilding and visuals are exemplary, and combined with powerful sound design, immerse the audience right in the midst of the action. When each of the warring factions gets an opportunity to share their unique customs and politics, it's very engaging - the rest is exceptionally slow. A third part is foretold.
