Cruella

The origin story of the notorious Cruella de Vil.

"Cruella" suffers from a chronic case of style over substance, and the knockout attention to fashion detail makes it stunning to look at. Apart from the visual appeal, there's little else on offer; the characters, including the dalmatians, affect a glib superficiality that's unlikable. Psychotic levels of callousness are threaded into the story, so it's hard to care what happens or to whom. It's a long movie as there's a lot of story to tell, not only the backstory - but the backstory of the backstory - and all without mirth or mercy. We are spot amused.
