Biography Drama War

Follows the trials of Sir Winston Churchill in the days leading up to the Allied invasion of Europe in WWII.

Interestingly, "Churchill" decides to explore the iconic leader's inner struggles in the hours before D-Day. It presents a fallible man wracked with misgivings, rather than the fabled hero, leaving us with an incomplete portrait. This is an unbalanced historical biopic that takes numerous liberties with fact, somehow turning the memorable into cliché. The single triumph of this film is undoubtedly the magnificent virtuoso performance from its lead, a redeeming distraction from an otherwise simplistic and wilting script. D-Grade.
