IFF: Bulbul Can Sing
Drama
The story of three teenage friends growing up in Assam.
"Bulbul Can Sing" is a film that doesn't quite know what it wants to be. This slow-moving production is a snapshot of rural Indian life, but it doesn't know what to focus on and the most interesting storyline is left largely unexplored. The dark turn of events in the second half is where things actually start to get interesting, but in arriving so late in the piece, leaves an emotional disconnect that is unable to be remedied. Off-key.
