Best Sellers

An ill-humoured writer undertakes a promotional book tour at the behest of his publisher who has inherited her father's business.

Once there's an outline drawn of the two main characters the story arc is predictable. This tale holds no surprises, opting to play as genial and as familiar as a pair of comfortable slippers. Social media and self-promotion are prodded, but with insufficient hostility to land a critical jab. "Best Sellers" is too friendly to be fierce, there's a "Que Sera, Sera" tone where rancour is countered with an amiable shrug and a knowing smile. This is all too rare entertainment that plays nice. Serve with popcorn.
