Amsterdam

An unlikely tale spun around the unlikely real events when some wealthy men conspired to overthrow President Roosevelt and dupe a retired army man into fronting their fascist veteran's organisation.

Amsterdam doesn't do justice to its tangle of plot lines including a forbidden romance, a poisoning, another murder, and a plot to overthrow the president. The pace and tone are madcap, and in the midst of the screwball action is a friendship between a doctor, nurse, and lawyer struggling to keep things together. The set design, cinematography, costumes and such are brilliant, as is the galaxy of stars making up the cast. Even so, it's clogged up.
