American Honey

A teenage girl leaves it all behind to join a magazine sales crew who travel across the Midwest.

"American Honey" is a hard sell... a story about/of disenfranchised youth pushing magazines doesn't sound terribly exciting. Thankfully it doesn't take long for the film's charm to fully immerse you into the world of its eclectic characters and diverse American towns. The naturalistic style and cinematography is stunning, while the obscene running time rarely comes into question amongst the adolescent drama. It's our empathy for the lead actress that is most impressive; her turns and stumbles generating genuine feelings of delight and distress. American sweetheart.
