Allied

In 1942 two spies embark on a deadly mission, only to fall in love and have their relationship tested by the pressures of war.

"Allied" is a stylised wartime romance, combining exquisitely recreated sets and locations to enhance old-fashioned storytelling. The leads are admirable in their roles, but given the very nature of espionage set amidst the theatre of World War II, the intrigue isn't nearly as profound as one might expect. It all seems a little lifeless and underwhelming, competent without being compelling. A not so decisive victory.
