After finding out her husband has stolen all of her money, a woman becomes an escort in order to save her home.

"Alice" is a subdued film that packs a real emotional punch. There's little to get titillated by in this production, the rendezvous are tastefully shown and stripped down to what they truly are, a transaction, a means to an end. Moral quandaries are raised throughout and handled in a subtle, deft way that lends credit to the director. In watching our leading lady take stock of her life and make the tough choices to keep what she holds dear, we're able to reflect on how this could happen to anyone. Lady Marmalade.
