SFF: Abracadabra

While at her nephew's wedding a hypnotism goes awry and Carmen's chauvinistic, soccer-loving husband Carlos becomes possessed by a murderous spirit.

The comedic tone of this film is a hit, making "Abracadabra" an enjoyably funny movie. The story itself is a bit hit and miss, and could be less patchy. The premise is fun if you slip into cruise control and can forgive the underdeveloped ideas and unsteady narrative. Thankfully the actors have nothing to prove and their performances are beguiling in a production where there's no overreach. Even the over-the-top tacky styling is justified by the character's infatuation with disco. Casts a spell.
