War Drama

Towards the end of WWI, two young British soldiers must undertake a near-impossible mission to deliver a message past enemy lines.

"1917" is an intense, visceral journey amongst the horrors of trench warfare. Shot to resemble a single, continuous take, the audience is immersed in every literal step of the struggle. The star of the show is undoubtedly the cinematography, bolstered by an ominous score and an accomplished cast. Such an audacious undertaking naturally detracts from certain elements of the narrative; but what the film loses in characterisation, it more than redeems in sheer technical brilliance and filmmaking artistry. The Great War.
