Things to Come
Drama
A philosophy teacher deals with loss on many fronts when her husband leaves, her mother dies, and she loses her job.
"Things to Come" is a low-key but disarming drama held together by the nuanced performance of the lead actor. Time passes and life changes; it's satisfying to see typical relationship challenges approached without drama or hysterics. A philosophical philosophy teacher sounds like a bit of a set-up, but thankfully her approach is sincere and believable. The director's thoughtful handling of the material presents a compassionate look at middle-age. Whatever will be.
